This was stated by the Commissioner Karachi, Syed Asif Haider Shah on Saturday. He pointed out that arrangements have been made at the centres for doctors, medicines, water, as well as other requirements. The Karachi administration has established these centres at the city's government as well as private hospitals. The Commissioner on Saturday paid surprise visit to various heatstroke centres. A statement from the Commissioner House said that Metropolitan Corporation's Sarfraz Rafiqui Hospital in District South, the Medical Superintendent was suspended because of inadequate arrangements and absence. In other districts, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction on arrangements made at the heat stroke centres. It was pointed out that this year the Karachi administration has made better arrangements in collaboration with the Sindh Health Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The Commissioner directed the deputy Commissioners and hospitals' managements to ensure the availability of medicines and doctors at the heat stroke centres. He warned that no dereliction would be tolerated in this very regard. The Commissioner also inquired about the welfare of the patients affected by the heat wave at the Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi and inquired about the arrangements.
