The fire, named Storm Hill Fire, was reported at 2:05 p.m. Saturday and has burned 25 acres of private and U.S. Forest Service lands. The burning hill is located south of U.S. 385, just south of Mitchell Lake, between the Spring Creek Inn and the sawmill Rushmore Forest Products, Inc. U.S. Highway 16/385 will be closed for the night as crews continue to fight the fire. The fire is burning bug-killed trees and fallen timber, the spokesperson said. The cause of the fire has not been determined and an investigation has been requested, according to the Great Plains Fire Information blog's most recent update. At around 6:45 p.m., a hand crew was headed to the site to help dig a line around the fire, creating a barrier, the spokesperson said.
